Number of jobseekers decreases by 2.5 % within one year

15.956 available resident jobseekers were registered with ADEM on 31 March 2018. Within one year, this is a decrease of 411 persons or 2.5%. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate is 5.7 %.

The decrease of unemployment is particularly beneficial to jobseekers under 30 years of age (-7.5 %) and low-skilled jobseekers (- 5.9 %). The number of long-term unemployed jobseekers decreased by 4.5 %. However, the number of jobseekers holding a higher education diploma increased by 215 persons or 7.5 %.

On 31 March 2018, 5.018 people took part in employment measures. Within one year, this number decreased by 360 persons or 6.7 %.

Nevertheless, two measures are evolving in the opposite direction: the number of beneficiaries of professionalisation internship (bénéficiaires du stage de professionnalisation) increased by 55 people and the number of people in apprenticeship for adults (apprentissage pour adultes) increased by 30 over one year.

During March 2018, Luxembourg employers declared 3.839 job vacancies to ADEM, 648 (+ 20.3 %) more than in March 2017.
