2017 was marked by sustained employment growth in Luxembourg and by the continuation of the fall in unemployment that began in 2015. The number of jobseekers fell by 4.4% over one year. This decline is particularly significant among young people under 30 and low-skilled jobseekers. This decrease has also benefited long-term unemployed – jobseekers, who are registered with ADEM for more than 12 months.
16.642 available resident jobseekers were registered with ADEM on 28 February 2018. Within one year, this is a decrease of 493 persons or 2.9%. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate is 5.7 %. The decrease of unemployment is particularly beneficial to jobseekers under 30 years of age (-8.7 %) and low-skilled jobseekers (- 4.8 %). The number of long-term unemployed jobseekers decreased by 5.7 %.
