Businesses affected by the closure measures can submit an application regarding the "partial lockdown" short-time working scheme until 30 December 2020 included

In view of the current situation and in order to reduce the risks of contamination by the Covid-19 Coronavirus, the ADEM agencies will remain open but will operate in an adapted manner and with reduced services between 28 December 2020 and 10 January 2021.

Over one year, the number of jobseekers has increased by 2,935 people or 19.5%. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate calculated by STATEC stands at 6.3%, at the same level as the previous month.

ADEM informs that its Luxembourg City agency, currently located at 10 rue Bender, L-1229 Luxembourg, will move to new modern premises that are better adapted to client needs. The new address of ADEM’s Luxembourg City agency will be, as from Tuesday, 3 November 2020: 13 A, rue de Bitbourg, L-1273 Luxembourg-Hamm.

ADEM is expanding its collaboration with specialised providers of online HR services

During a press conference on 6 October 2020, Dan Kersch, Minister of Labour, Employment and the Social and Solidarity Economy, and Isabelle Schlesser, director of the ADEM, presented the FutureSkills initiative.

The Economic Committee, chaired by the Minister of Labour, Employment and the Social and Solidarity Economy, Dan Kersch, and the Minister of the Economy, Franz Fayot, reached an agreement on how to proceed with the reimbursement of short time working for the months of July to December 2020.

The number of resident jobseekers registered with ADEM stood at 18,525 as of August 31, 2020. Compared to July 2020, this represents a decrease of 1,232 people (-6.2%) and compared to April 2020 a decrease of 1,728 people (-8.5%). However, over one year, this represents an increase of 20.5%. The unemployment rate, adjusted for seasonal variations, calculated by STATEC, stands at 6.4%.

Businesses wishing to benefit from the short-time working scheme during the period of economic recovery are required to submit a new application each month. For October 2020, applications must be submitted via MyGuichet.lu by 12 September 2020 at the latest.

The number of available resident jobseekers registered with ADEM was 19,762 on 31 July 2020. Over one year, this represents an increase of 4,094 people, i.e. 26.1%. Compared to the previous month, however, there was a very slight decrease (114 people, or 0.6%). The seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate, calculated by STATEC, stands at 6.6%.
