The number of job seekers increased by 2.1% over one year

The number of available resident jobseekers registered with the ADEM stood at 15,124 on 31 May 2019. Over one year, this represents an increase of 316 people, or 2.1%.

Compared to April 2019, the number of available resident jobseekers fell by 329 people or 2.1%, due to seasonal variations. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate, calculated by STATEC, is 5.5%.

The number of available non-resident jobseekers registered with the ADEM stood at 2,475 as at 31 May 2019, a decrease of 6.5% compared to May 2018. The number of non-resident jobseekers with reduced work capacity (external professional redeployment ) decreased by 7.0% while that of non-residents without this status decreased by only 4.9% compared to May 2018.

In May 2019, ADEM opened 2,071 new files for resident jobseekers, an increase of 16.3% compared to May 2018. In addition, 458 new files were opened for non-resident jobseekers, an increase of 103.6% compared to May 2018

The number of beneficiaries of an employment measure is 4,237 as at 31 May 2019. Over one year, this represents a decrease of 207 people, or 4.7%.

During the month of May 2019, employers reported 3,465 vacant positions to the ADEM, i.e. 314 positions or 8.3% less than in May 2018.
