The number of available resident jobseekers registered with ADEM was 15 470 as on 31 January 2022. Compared to January 2021, this represents a decrease of 4 412 people or 22.2%. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate calculated by STATEC now stands at 4.9%
The figures are down for all categories of jobseekers, including those who have been registered for more than 12 months. Nevertheless, the long-term unemployed still represent 49.3% of all available jobseekers.
Despite a slight increase in January 2022, the number of new registrations remains relatively low. Indeed, 2 359 residents registered with ADEM, a decrease of 341 people or 12.6% compared to January 2021. Thus, the number of registrations is lower than the level seen in 2018.
The number of resident jobseekers receiving full unemployment benefit fell by 2 475 or 24.6% year-on-year to 7 591. The number of beneficiaries of an employment measure stands at 4 298 and is above the level observed in January 2021 (+208 persons, or 5.1%).
During January 2022, employers reported 4 083 job vacancies to ADEM, a 46.2% increase compared to January 2021. The number of available positions as of 31 January 2022 is 10 769. The increase over one year is 63.6%..
