The number of resident jobseekers registered with ADEM stood at 14,153 on 31 August 2022, similar to the previous month's figure. Compared to August 2021, this represents a decrease of 1,970 persons or 12.2%. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate calculated by STATEC is 4.8%.
The number of jobseekers is down in particular for jobseekers with a registration period of more than 6 months (-26.7% for registration periods of 7 to 11 months and -20.7% for registration periods of 12 months or more).
The number of new registrations is on the rise again. In fact, 2,354 residents registered with ADEM in August 2022, an increase of 277 people or 13.3% compared to August 2021. Note that this month's new registrations include 126 registrations of beneficiaries of temporary protection (refugees from Ukraine).
The number of resident jobseekers receiving full unemployment benefit fell by 1,061 or 13.2% year-on-year to 7,005. The number of people receiving a measure stood at 4,060 and was below the level observed in August 2021 (-278 people, or 6.4%).
During August 2022, employers reported 4,038 job openings to ADEM, an increase of 7.8% from August 2021. The number of available positions stands at 13,473 as of August 31, 2022. The year-over-year increase is 35.9%.
