The number of available resident jobseekers registered with ADEM is 14,269 as of 30 April 2022. Compared to April 2021, this is a decrease of 3,980 people or 22%. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate calculated by STATEC is 4.7%.
The number of jobseekers is down for all categories of jobseekers, including those who have been registered for more than 12 months. Nevertheless, the long-term unemployed still represent 48.7% of all available jobseekers.
The number of new registrations remains relatively low. Indeed, 2,516 residents registered with ADEM, a decrease of 2 people or 0.1% compared to April 2021. Note that the 2,516 new registrations include 221 registrations of beneficiaries of temporary protection (mainly due to the war in Ukraine).
The number of resident jobseekers receiving unemployment benefit fell by 2,319 or 23% year-on-year to 7,764. The number of people participating in an employment measure stood at 4,506 and was slightly below the level observed in April 2021 (-12 people, or 0.3%).
During April 2022, employers reported 4,134 vacancies to ADEM, an increase of 40.8% compared to April 2021. The number of available positions stood at 12,684 on April 30, 2022, a new all-time high. Over one year, the number of available positions increased by 53%.
