The year 2024 ends with 19,532 job seekers and 5,935 vacant positions.

The number of available resident jobseekers registered with ADEM stood at 19,532 on December 31, 2024, an increase of 1,334 people (or 7.3%) compared to December 2023.

This increase particularly affects jobseekers who have been registered for seven months or longer, those over the age of 30, and highly qualified jobseekers (graduates of higher education). In terms of professions, the largest increases were seen in road transport occupations (ROME category N41), accounting (M12), culinary production (G16), IT (M18), and banking (C12).

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate, calculated by STATEC, rose to 5.9%.

The number of new jobseeker registrations increased slightly. In December 2024, 2,328 residents registered with ADEM, representing an increase of 50 people or 2.2% compared to December 2023. Notably, the new registrations this month included 62 beneficiaries of temporary protection (refugees from Ukraine).

The number of resident jobseekers receiving unemployment benefits rose by 917 people or 9.3% year-on-year, reaching 10,737 as of December 31. The number of individuals benefiting from employment support measures remained stable at 4,111 compared to December 2023.

In December 2024, employers declared 2,385 vacant positions to ADEM, a decrease of 7.1% compared to December 2023. The total number of available positions at the end of the month was 5,935 as of December 31, 2024, representing a year-on-year decline of 15.2%. This drop (in both newly declared positions and the stock at month-end) primarily affected accounting professions (ROME category M12) and secondary building trades (F16).
