The number of available resident job seekers registered with ADEM stood at 18,166 as of February 29, 2024, an increase of 2,516 individuals (or 16.1%) compared to February 2023.
The number of jobseekers has risen for all durations of unemployment. The most qualified jobseekers (those with higher education degrees) as well as young people under 30 experience the largest increases.
In terms of professions, the most significant upward variations concern construction trades (category ROME F), the financial and real estate sector (category C), industry (category H), information technology (category M18), accounting (M12), and sales strategy (M17).
The unemployment rate, adjusted for seasonal variations and calculated by STATEC, stands at 5.6%.
The number of new jobseeker registrations is on the rise. Indeed, 3,307 residents registered with ADEM in February 2024, an increase of 461 individuals or 16.2% compared to February 2023. It is noteworthy that the new registrations this month include 83 registrations of beneficiaries of temporary protection (refugees from Ukraine).
The number of resident jobseekers benefiting from unemployment benefits increased by 2,179 individuals or 26.9% over the year, reaching 10,272 as of February 29, 2024. The number of beneficiaries of an employment measure stands at 4,455 up by 4.5% compared to February 2023.
In February 2024, employers reported 3,149 job vacancies to ADEM, a decrease of 7.1% compared to February 2023.
The total number of available positions at the end of the month stood at 7,727 as of February 29, 2024. The decline over the year is 31.4%. This decrease mainly impacts the professions in accounting and management (category ROME M12), business consulting (category M14), secretarial and assistance (category M16), commercial strategy and marketing (category M17), information technology (category M18), transportation and logistics (category N), construction (category F), and hospitality - catering, tourism, leisure, and entertainment (category G).
