17,083 Jobseekers, a Stable Unemployment Rate, and Declining New Registrations

As of 30 June 2024, 17,083 residents were registered as jobseekers with ADEM, an increase of 1,750 individuals (or 11.4%) compared to June 2023. This rise spans all periods of unemployment. The most significant increases were among highly qualified jobseekers and those aged 30 to 44.

The largest increases in jobseekers were seen in construction (ROME category F), installation and maintenance (category I), transport and logistics (category N), finance and real estate (category C), hospitality (category G), accounting (M12), and IT (M18) sectors.

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate, calculated by STATEC, remains unchanged from the previous month at 5.7%.

New jobseeker registrations decreased, with 2,178 residents registering with ADEM in June 2024, down by 162 individuals or 6.9% compared to June 2023. This is the first year-on-year decrease since January 2022. Notably, these new registrations include 59 individuals under temporary protection (refugees from Ukraine).

The number of resident jobseekers receiving full unemployment benefits rose by 1,868 individuals or 22.8% year-on-year, totalling 10,078 as of 30 June. The number of individuals benefiting from employment measures increased by 7.2% compared to June 2023, reaching 4,559.

In June 2024, employers reported 3,090 vacancies to ADEM, a decrease of 11.7% compared to June 2023. The total number of available positions at the end of the month was 7,586, reflecting a 20% year-on-year decline. This drop predominantly affected accounting and management (ROME category M12), IT (category M18), finance and real estate (category C), secondary trades (category F16), legal professions (category K19), and warehousing, handling, and moving jobs (category N11).
