A stable unemployment rate and a more moderate increase in jobseekers

The number of available resident jobseekers registered with ADEM stood at 18,396 on 31 July 2025, an increase of 495 people (or 2.8%) compared to July 2024.

This increase mainly concerns jobseekers over the age of 45 and those with higher qualifications (graduates of higher education).
In terms of occupations, the largest increases were recorded in accounting (ROME category M12), secretarial and administrative support (M16), IT (M18) and road transport driving (N41).

The unemployment rate, adjusted for seasonal variations and calculated by STATEC, remained stable at 5.9%.

The number of new resident registrations rose. In fact, 2,857 residents registered with ADEM during July 2025, an increase of 301 people or 11.8% compared to July 2024.

The number of resident jobseekers receiving unemployment benefits decreased by 319 people or 3.1% year-on-year, standing at 9,929 on 31 July. The number of beneficiaries of an employment measure stood at 4,203, a slight decline (-2.8%) compared to July 2024.

During July 2025, employers declared 3,328 job vacancies to ADEM, a decrease of 4.1% compared to July 2024. The total number of available positions at the end of the month stood at 6,747 on 31 July 2025, down by 10.5% compared to July 2024. This decline particularly affected occupations in accounting (ROME category M12), construction (F16, F17) and road transport driving (N41).
