Significant Increase in the number of jobseekers and the unemployment rate
As of 30 November 2025, the number of available resident jobseekers registered with ADEM stood at 19,907, representing an increase of 1,282 people (+6.9%) compared with November 2024.
Over the past twelve months, the increase has been relatively similar across all age groups; however, it is particularly pronounced among the most highly qualified jobseekers (higher education graduates), with a rise of +10.2%. Furthermore, the analysis of data by occupation confirms the trends observed in previous months: the most significant increases are seen in the fields of secretarial and administrative support (ROME category M16), accounting (category M12), and IT (category M18).
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate, as calculated by STATEC, stands at 6.2%.
The number of new jobseeker registrations has increased only slightly. In November 2025, 2,694 residents registered with ADEM, representing a change of +1.1% compared with November 2024.
The decline in the number of resident jobseekers receiving unemployment benefits, observed since spring 2025, continues to accelerate. From November 2024 to November 2025, this number decreased by 1,300 people (-12.3%), reaching 9,233 on 30 November. In contrast, the number of beneficiaries of employment support measures was 4,489, showing a slight increase (+2.1%) compared with November 2024.
During November 2025, employers reported 2,347 job vacancies to ADEM, representing a significant decrease of 7.4% compared with November 2024. The strongest decreases were observed in the accounting (ROME category M12) and IT (category M18) sectors. The stock of available jobs also recorded a slight decline: compared with November 2024, the number of positions stood at 6,023, a decrease of 1.9% year-on-year.
