Rising number of job vacancies and a stable unemployment rate of 6.3%

As of 30 April 2026, ADEM reports 20,140 resident jobseekers, representing an increase of 1,544 people compared to April 2025 (+8.3% year on year).

As in previous months, this increase mainly concerns highly qualified jobseekers (+17.8%). By age group, a marked rise is observed among the 30–44 age bracket (+10.9%) as well as among young people (+8.0%). In terms of occupations sought, the trends have remained similar for several months: the strongest increases concern IT occupations (ROME category M18), secretarial and administrative support (M16), and accounting (M12). This month, a significant increase is also observed in organisational and research-related occupations (M14) and culinary production (G16).

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate, calculated by STATEC, stands at 6.3%.

The number of newly registered resident jobseekers increased by 3.6% year on year: 2,466 residents registered in April 2026, compared to 2,380 in April 2025.

As of 30 April 2026, the number of resident jobseekers receiving unemployment benefits stands at 10,181, a decrease of 4.4% year on year.

The number of resident jobseekers with the status of professional redeployment receiving the waiting allowance (IA) or the professional waiting allowance (IPA) amounts to 1,533, representing a slight increase of 0.9% year on year.

Resident beneficiaries of employment measures total 4,575, representing a slight increase of 0.4% compared to April 2025.
