La Provençale and ADEM have been working together for 10 years to train and recruit delivery drivers
On Thursday, La Provençale unveiled an exemplary partnership established with ADEM, the National Centre for Continuing Vocational Training (CNFPC) and the Driver Training Centre (CFC) to address the shortage of delivery drivers in Luxembourg.
La Provençale is a family-run business that has become a major player in the food wholesale sector in Luxembourg. It currently employs over 1,700 staff and operates a fleet of 210 refrigerated lorries. Faced with recruitment challenges in the transport and logistics sector, La Provençale sought to step up its recruitment efforts in the local labour market. To meet this need, ADEM developed, in close collaboration with the company and the training centre, a specific programme aimed at jobseekers. A collaboration that has lasted for a decade
Following an information session organised jointly by ADEM and La Provençale, shortlisted candidates take part in recruitment workshops attended by recruiters and ADEM advisers. Those selected then undertake a two-week pre-selection placement to gain practical insight into the role and the company’s working environment
“This stage enables us to recruit motivated individuals who will embody the company’s values on a daily basis: a family atmosphere, team spirit, safety, customer service and efficiency. It also allows candidates to assess whether they see themselves fitting into our company,” explained Georges Eischen, managing partner of La Provençale.
An employment contract up for grabs
At the end of this work placement, interested candidates will join the ‘Delivery Driver’ training programme, which consists of two parts: obtaining a Category C driving licence and a four-week theoretical course at the CNFPC, covering all aspects of the role. The entire programme is funded by ADEM. For its part, La Provençale undertakes to offer a permanent contract to candidates who successfully complete the training.
Isabelle Schlesser, Director of ADEM, emphasised: “Our mission at ADEM is to match skills with the needs of businesses and to support jobseekers in finding long-term career opportunities. This partnership with La Provençale reflects our belief that training must lead to employment.”
Thanks to this initiative, more than 120 jobseekers have benefited from this training over the last ten years. Today, 38 delivery drivers at La Provençale – representing nearly 13% of the relevant workforce – have come through this scheme.
Georges Eischen welcomed the results achieved through this collaboration: “This valuable partnership with ADEM provides tangible support in meeting our recruitment needs, whilst offering genuine career prospects to jobseekers living in Luxembourg. The results achieved demonstrate the full value of this collaborative approach between the public and private sectors.”
This positive momentum is set to continue from September onwards with a new training course, as announced by Isabelle Schlesser. “Alongside this programme for delivery drivers, ADEM and La Provençale are also collaborating in other sectors facing staff shortages, particularly the catering industry.” A versatile vocational training course in catering is currently underway, with particularly encouraging results.
A label that signifies collaboration and a relationship of mutual trust
Since September 2025, La Provençale has also held the ‘Entreprise, partenaire pour l’emploi’ (Business Partner for Employment) accreditation, which recognises companies committed to promoting employment, notably through the systematic reporting of job vacancies, the organisation of recruitment workshops and their active collaboration with ADEM.
“An exemplary relationship of cooperation and mutual trust between ADEM and certified employers enables the organisation of bespoke events to meet their workforce needs,” explained Isabelle Schlesser.
