A statutory minimum wage is guaranteed; it depends on the employee's age and qualifications. Salaries, wages, and social benefits are indexed to the cost of living.

Every full-time employee is entitled to at least 26 days of annual leave per year, and more if eligible for additional leave or if a collective agreement applies. The standard weekly working time is 40 hours.

Working in the public service

The public service offers numerous career opportunities with diverse missions.
There are three types of employment status:
state official, state employee and state worker.

The vast majority of positions are open to nationals of European Union member states (with the exception of certain sovereign functions requiring Luxembourgish nationality).
Your profile must, of course, meet the requirements of the position in question, and you may be required to sit for eligibility exams.
