The unemployment rate is slightly declining, while job offers remain low
The number of available resident jobseekers registered with ADEM stood at 17,886 as of 30 June 2025, an increase of 803 individuals (or 4.7%) compared to June 2024.
This increase mainly concerns jobseekers over the age of 45 and those with higher qualifications (graduates of higher education).
At the occupational level, the largest increases were recorded in the fields of accounting (ROME category M12) and road transport driving (category N41).
The unemployment rate, adjusted for seasonal variations and calculated by STATEC, has decreased to 5.9%.
The number of new registrations of resident jobseekers is rising. Indeed, 2,402 residents registered with ADEM in June 2025, an increase of 224 people or 10.3% compared to June 2024.
The number of resident jobseekers receiving full unemployment benefits decreased by 216 individuals, or 2.1% year-on-year, reaching 9,862 as of 30 June. The number of beneficiaries of an employment support measure stands at 4,452, a slight decline of 2.3% compared to June 2024.
In June 2025, employers declared 2,954 job vacancies to ADEM, which corresponds to a 4.4% decrease compared to June 2024. The total number of available positions at the end of the month stood at 6,867 as of 30 June 2025, down by 9.5% compared to June 2024.
This decline mainly affects jobs in accounting (ROME category M12), law (category K19), banking/finance (categories C12 and C13), as well as corporate organisation and economic studies (category M14).
