Unchanged unemployment rate and stable number of new registrations
The number of available resident jobseekers registered with ADEM stood at 18,065 as of 31 August 2025, an increase of 330 people (or 1.9%) compared to August 2024.
This increase mainly concerns jobseekers aged over 45 as well as the most highly qualified jobseekers (graduates of higher education).
In terms of occupations, the largest increases were observed in accounting jobs (ROME category M12), secretarial and assistant positions (M16), IT (M18), and road transport driving (N41).
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate, as calculated by STATEC, remains stable at 5.9%.
The number of new resident registrations is stable. In August 2025, 2,460 residents registered with ADEM, representing a slight increase of +0.2% compared to August 2024.
The number of resident jobseekers receiving full unemployment benefits fell by 464 people, or 4.5%, year-on-year, to reach 9,762 as of 31 August. The number of beneficiaries of an employment measure stands at 4,049, a slight decrease of -2.4% compared to August 2024.
During August 2025, employers declared 2,636 job vacancies to ADEM, a decrease of -6.5% compared to August 2024. The total number of vacancies at the end of the month stood at 6,536 on 31 August 2025, a decrease of -9.8% compared to August 2024. This decline mainly concerns accounting jobs (M12), construction (F16, F17), as well as business organisation and economic studies (M14).
