More job vacancies and a declining unemployment rate of 5.9%

As of 31 October 2025, the number of available resident jobseekers registered with ADEM stood at 18,720, representing an increase of 427 individuals (+2.3%) compared with October 2024.

The year-on-year rise is primarily driven by developments within specific groups: highly qualified jobseekers (those with higher education degrees) increased by 9.4%, those registered for 12 months or more rose by 5.0%, and jobseekers aged over 45 grew by 4.1%. At the occupational level, the data confirm trends observed in previous months, with the strongest increases seen in accounting roles (ROME M12), secretarial and administrative support positions (M16), and IT occupations (M18). Notably, the trend among young jobseekers is slightly positive, with their numbers declining by 0.7% year-on-year, totalling 3,697 individuals as of 31 October.

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate, as calculated by STATEC, stands at 5.9%.

The number of new jobseeker registrations remained stable, with 3,224 residents signing up at ADEM in October 2025, a slight increase of 0.4% compared with October 2024.

The number of resident jobseekers receiving unemployment benefits fell by 575 individuals (-5.5% year-on-year), reaching 9,800 at the end of October, continuing the downward trend observed since January 2025. Meanwhile, the number of beneficiaries of employment support measures stood at 4,397, a modest decrease of 2.2% compared with October 2024.

In October 2025, employers reported 3,141 job vacancies to ADEM, a slight decline of 0.9% compared with the same month in 2024, with the largest reductions recorded in accounting (ROME M12) and construction (ROME F16) roles.

However, the stock of available jobs is now on the rise again—an upward shift not seen since February 2023. Compared with October 2024, the number of available positions increased significantly (+7.8%), reaching 7,218 vacancies.
