21,038 jobseekers and a stable unemployment rate of 6.3%

As of 28 February 2026, ADEM recorded 21,038 resident jobseekers available for work, representing an increase of 1,578 people compared to February 2025 (i.e. +8.1% year-on-year).

As in previous months, this increase mainly affects highly qualified jobseekers (+16.0%). By contrast, the evolution across age groups is more balanced, with increases of around 8% in each of the three categories (under 30, 30–44, 45 and over). Regarding occupations sought, trends remain similar: the strongest increases concern administrative and support roles (ROME category M16), IT (M18), and accounting (M12).

The unemployment rate, seasonally adjusted and calculated by STATEC, stands at 6.3%.

The number of new resident jobseeker registrations rose by 1.6% year-on-year: 2,553 residents registered in February 2026, compared to 2,512 in February 2025.

The number of residents benefiting from employment support measures stands at 4,449, remaining almost stable (+0.5%) compared to February 2025.

Regarding non-residents, ADEM recorded 4,246 registered jobseekers at the end of February, representing a 24.5% increase year-on-year. For this group, the increase is 10.9% year-on-year.

The second group of non-resident jobseekers consists of individuals who register voluntarily without receiving financial support. This group represents 1,834 people (43.2% of non-resident jobseekers). The increase remains particularly significant, reaching 48.5% compared to February 2025.
