The number of available resident job seekers registered with ADEM as of February 28, 2022 is 15,340. Compared to February 2021, this is a decrease of 4,136 persons or 21.2%. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate calculated by STATEC remains at 4.9%, as in the previous month.
The number of jobseekers fell for all categories of jobseekers, including those who have been registered for more than 12 months. Nevertheless, the long-term unemployed still represent 49.2% of all available jobseekers.
The number of new registrations remains relatively low. Indeed, 1,848 residents registered with ADEM, a decrease of 267 persons or 12.7% compared to February 2021. The last time the number of monthly registrations at ADEM was so low was in 2018.
The number of resident jobseekers receiving full unemployment benefit fell by 2,573 or 25.4% year-on-year to 7,555. The number of people receiving a measure stands at 4,298 and is above the level observed in February 2021 (+162 people, or 3.9%).
During February 2022, employers reported 3,507 vacancies to ADEM, an increase of 16.4% compared to February 2021. The number of available positions as of February 28, 2022, is 11,027. The year-over-year increase is 49.1%.
