The number of available resident jobseekers registered with ADEM stood at 16,927 as of October 31, 2023, an increase of 2,258 individuals (15.4%) compared to October 2022.
This number of jobseekers has increased for all durations of unemployment. The most qualified jobseekers (higher education graduates) as well as individuals under 30 years old experience the largest increases.
Regarding professions, the most significant upward variations are observed in construction (category ROME F), the financial and real estate sector (category C), industry (category H), information technology (category M18), accounting (M12), and business strategy (M17).
The unemployment rate, adjusted for seasonal variations and calculated by STATEC, is 5.6%.
The number of new registrations for jobseekers is on the rise. Indeed, 3,183 residents registered with ADEM in October 2023, representing an increase of 386 individuals or 13.8% compared to October 2022. It is noteworthy that the new registrations for this month include 92 registrations from beneficiaries of temporary protection (refugees from Ukraine).
The number of resident jobseekers receiving full unemployment benefits has increased by 1,979 individuals or 28% over the year, reaching 9,056. The number of beneficiaries of an employment measure stands at 4,226 and remains at the same level as in October 2022.
In October 2023, employers reported 3,089 vacant positions to ADEM, corresponding to a decrease of 5.9% compared to October 2022.
The total number of available positions at the end of the month stands at 8,571 as of October 31, 2023. The decline over the year is 34.2%. This decrease primarily affects professions in business consulting (category ROME M14), information technology (category M18), and construction (category F).
