The number of resident jobseekers registered with ADEM stood at 17,733 as of September 30, 2024, an increase of 1,168 people (or 7.1%) compared to September 2023.
This increase affects all periods of unemployment longer than four months. The most significant rises are among highly qualified job seekers (those with higher education degrees) and individuals aged 30 to 44.
By sector, the most notable increases are in construction (ROME category F), transport personnel (N41), industry (H), accounting (M12), IT (M18), and banking (C12).
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate, calculated by STATEC, remains stable at 5.8%.
The number of new jobseeker registrations is rising, with 3,259 residents registering with ADEM in September 2024, an increase of 117 people (or 3.7%) compared to September 2023. Notably, this includes 63 registrations of temporary protection beneficiaries (refugees from Ukraine).
The number of resident jobseekers receiving unemployment benefits increased by 1,404 people (or 16%) over the year, reaching 10,168 by September 30. The number of individuals benefiting from employment measures stands at 4,452, up by 12.7% compared to September 2023.
In September 2024, employers declared 3,110 vacancies to ADEM, stable compared to September 2023. The total number of available positions at the end of the month was 6,737, reflecting a year-on-year decrease of 24.9%, particularly affecting jobs in accounting (M12), IT (M18), finance and real estate (C), construction finishing (F16), law (K19), and metalworking (H29).
