The number of jobseekers increases by 17.4% compared to last year
The number of available resident jobseekers registered with ADEM was 18,398 on 31 March 2020. Over one year, this represents an increase of 2 728 people, i.e. 17.4%. The unemployment rate, adjusted for seasonal variations, calculated by STATEC, is 6.1%.

Additional measures relating to the COVID-19 situation concerning unemployment benefits for jobseekers
Due to the extraordinary situation on the labour market triggered by the COVID-19 health crisis, jobseekers registered with ADEM may currently face difficulties in finding a new job. For this reason, the entitlement to unemployment benefit is extended for the duration of the crisis. This applies both to the duration of the regular employment benefit and to any extension period.

COVID-19: New procedure for the granting of short-time working in cases of force majeure linked to the COVID-19 crisis
Faced with the magnitude of the coronavirus crisis and its tangible repercussions on the lives of businesses and their employees, the Luxembourg government has decided to set up a "force majeure / coronavirus" short-time working scheme with an accelerated procedure for all businesses that have had to completely or partially cease their activities.

Number of jobseekers increases by 7.4% within one year
As of 29 February 2020, 16,652 resident jobseekers were registered with ADEM. Compared to the same month of the previous year, this is an increase of 1,144 people, or 7,4%. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate determined by STATEC was 5.5% in February 2020.
